YouTube vs Vimeo
Unless your living under a rock or your absolutely senile, I’m sure you’ve hear of a little site called YouTube. It’s now the world’s second-largest search engine just under it’s parent company, Google. The site even sees a total of 48 hours of footage uploaded every minute. With YouTube being known as the leader in online video, why would anyone else use another site like Vimeo? What could possibly make Vimeo an even better option for all your video needs? That’s what we’re here to debate and to clarify.
To begin, the reason why YouTube has become so popular is because it capitalized on the idea of sharing online videos almost 7-years ago now. They made it simple to upload a video and share it with the world. Now after the site built up in popularity in the first year of its release, they instituted revenue options for not only video creators but it also brought the founders of YouTube immense fortunes. So with popularity and money on their side, the site has been able to vastly outgrow Vimeo with both their servers and their tools on the site available for users.
So with YouTube being such a popular option, why are people using Vimeo at all? Well to begin, Vimeo tends to focus on showing off YOUR videos where YouTube likes to focus on ALL videos. Watch a video on Vimeo, after it ends, what do you see? You’ll only see videos YOU have created. Now watch a similar video on YouTube, you will find that multiple videos are shown on the side and at the end of your current video in order to keep viewers from leaving the site. With Vimeo focusing on keeping the attention on YOUR videos, it’s no wonder many businesses like to use the site over YouTube.
Sure Vimeo focuses on YOUR content but they fail in comparison to the options YouTube has for building your brand. On YouTube, you’re able to establish a ”channel” that is fully customizable to show off every video you make. Not to mention the options available for interacting with viewers/customers.
At the end of the day, YouTube seems to be the better site in regards to online video. They have better servers, tools, customization and interaction options. Now for those who don’t like the site because of other “related” videos appearing next to yours. Honestly anyone researching your company is more than likely going to look up your competitors as well So you may as well put it all out on the line anyways. There is no need to hide anything as in today’s world, customers like businesses with transparency. People like the ability to put a face to businesses so don’t hide behind “professionally” written websites, brochures and emails. Come to us to create an awesome video for sites like YouTube and Vimeo. If you’re in need of video production and you’re located in Michigan then give us a call at (616) 710-1809.
Recently I spoke with a small business owner from the East-side of Michigan concerning what video marketing or video production really means. In his mind, the service Your Social offers was that of a videographer. If you don’t know what a videographer is, it’s basically a video-professional you can hire to film for you. Typically videographers are hired for events like concerts and even weddings. The difference with Your Social is that videos we create are for businesses only. The goal is to create your business an effective video to use on sites like YouTube and other outlets to display your video for maximum exposure.
What type of videos is it that we do? Really anything is on the table. If you have a very creative idea or way you would like to show off your business, let’s do it! If your not the creative type of mind though then don’t worry. Traditional customer testimonials, product/service demos and even company descriptions are great ideas to show off your business. Now let’s shed some light on the entire process of creating a video.
When you first contact us to create a video either by phone, 616.710.1809, or by email. We’ll discuss exactly what your goal is for a video and go over any potential ideas. We’ll then discuss all the details and settle on a custom price point for your video. From that point we’ll setup a time and location to shoot the video whether it’s at your office or a real estate listing you have for a video tour. When the time comes to begin shooting the video, the goal is to get things done as fast as possible so you can get back to your business needs. From that point the video is fully edited and pieced together for your use. If needed, we can even setup a YouTube channel for your company to properly show-off the video. Not to mention that we will display the videos on our network of sites to give you the maximum amount of exposure.

Besides watching the two-top teams duke it out for the championship, what is the one thing the Super Bowl has become synonymous with? No I don’t mean half-time shows which year after year prove to lose an increasing amount of viewers. It’s that the Super Bowl has some of the best commercials you” see all year and rightfully so. The “Big Game” is the most watched event of every year and with so many viewers it’s no wonder companies are willing to pay $3.5 million to appear a mear 30 seconds on your screen. With paying so much the commercials that appear every year have become ones with massive production values at times and aim to leave you in awe.
Im a huge football fan and love the game but of course I also love the commercials so when I heard some of them had already aired on television upwards of a few weeks before the Super Bowl. I was pretty displeased as were thousands of other online. I can understand these companies wanting to release their commercials early in an attempt to build some hype. As a viewer though, it ruins the magic of watching the game. When you want to grab more food or run off to the bathroom, it’s less likely you’ll miss something great this year. That’s a part of the magic of Super Bowl Sunday though! Please don’t ruin the tradition of the game. Im sure it will still be an amazing game nonetheless.
What would be the point of me attempting to create this whole blog without shamelessly plugging in our new video marketing services? So with that said, why not create your very own video without spending anywhere near $3.5 million? We can do that for you and place your video on a customized YouTube channel just for your business. Why Facebook went “Public” with Their Stock
The tech giant, Facebook, has become a house hold name. Such a big name in fact that currently you can find millions of 10 year-olds to millions of 80 year-olds on the site. That’s a feat that I don’t believe anything or anyone has been able to accomplish at any point in human history. With well over 800 million users of the site, you would think that Facebook would be one of the richest companies on the planet. That is actually not the case though. Sure the company has an estimated net worth of $50 billion but that pales in comparison to many other giant corporations out there. CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, is the youngest self-made billionaire in history and rightfully so as he has made the most popular website of today, just above YouTube. Facebook has come to realize they’re not receiving the income ($900 million in 2011) they deserve.
How exactly does Facebook make money? One part is of course the ads you can find on virtually every single page. The majority of the income comes from these little ads and in part to app-developers paying for premium services. There’s another massive point of income that actually comes from another company, which would be Zynga. That name may sound familiar to some of you as they are the creators of virtually every popular game people play on Facebook. 12% of Facebook’s income is supplied to them from Zynga. Something I wouldn’t necessarily call a good thing as really on another company for your companies well being is quite dangerous. Also to mention that Zynga is working on new ways to save themselves even more money instead of paying Facebook.
What are Facebook’s options to gain additional income? They could raise the prices to place ads which would displease many. They could try and lock Zynga into a stronger contract but that’s something Im sure they have tried before. So what’s left? Well they have decided to attempt and raise $5 billion in the single-largest floatation ever attempted by an Internet company on Wall Street. Regarding Facebook stocks, it’s expected they won’t actually begin trading for several months yet. Pay close attention to how things transpire over the coming months as no one is 100% sure as to exactly how buyers will react to Facebook.

Your Social, is a Grand Rapids based company that is now expanding into the realm of video marketing as we have found people don’t really seem to have that many options available to them when it comes to videos.
The best option(s) available consists of spending thousands-of-dollars for a video that is only meant to last 3-5 minutes. So what we do is establish quick, simple, effective and cheap videos to be used for exposure on the web. The type of clients we’re capable of working with is virtually everyone. Any business out there, no matter the “niche,” can benefit from personalized videos to connect with their customers and gain exposure.
Grand Rapids Video Production
Grand Rapids houses an extreme amount of businesses. So I would expect there to be competition for whatever niche you may be a part of. In the case you have some pretty steep competition, what have you done marketing wise to set yourself apart? What makes people notice you first? Have you spent time sending out post cards? Joined a local Chamber of Commerce? How about even going door-to-door? There are plenty of things that can be done to gain notoriety. Perhaps the biggest emerging market though, is video marketing. The potential for your business to be discovered in un-paralleled. Before, the only companies that held videos were those with massive bank accounts able to afford commercials. Those days are long gone now. With sites like YouTube, which has become the world’s second largest search engine, you have the ability to reach potential customers on a whole new personal level.
Your Social realized that local businesses to Grand Rapids needed an affordable and simple option for video production. That way everyone has the option to have an awesome HD video created for their business and even have a YouTube channel created along with it. Why spend thousands on something that is meant to be seen once be each person passing by? Those type of prices just aren’t realistic in today’s market and that’s why you will never be charged those type of prices.
We can figure out a great idea for a video regarding your company no matter what the niche is, guaranteed! If your looking for a free quote/consultation regarding video production for video for some great exposure online; either call: (616) 710-1809. Or email: Cody@Your-Social.com
With our introduction of video marketing for Grand Rapids businesses, I realized a great idea would be the Real Estate niche of things. For those of you homebuyers, wouldn’t it be great to see a virtual video tour of homes your interested in without wasting your time of driving out to the home and being disappointed? For you real estate agents, it’s time to kick your listings to the next level! Let’s create some great virtual video tours for whatever your listing may be.
What type of listings do we cover though? Of course we cover tours for homes, but there are plenty real estate agents with commercial listings as well. Have a warehouse on the market? Perhaps your attempting to sell some office-space. Whatever it is your looking to do, we’re open to the idea.
Back in mid-2011, Postling.com held a poll and it’s findings regarding realtors with videos vs realtors without, was quite drastic. The poll’s results showed a surprising 73% of people would only work with agents that used online video. That’s where the issue comes up though as it seems most realtors aren’t utilizing technology to its fullest potential. Only a total of 12% of realtors have YouTube channels displaying their listings. Far less than I think anyone would have imagined. Definitely less than I would like to see as the importance of having a presence online with videos is CRUCIAL.
Now I can understand most people don’t know how to properly utilize any videos they may have and don’t know what it takes to properly market a video after it’s created. That’s where our entire video marketing service comes into play. After we create your video tour, we can also develop a YouTube channel for you and properly manage the video.
To all real estate agents (realtors) in the Grand Rapids or even West Michigan area, if you have any questions about our services or just want some help regarding your current video or YouTube channel. Feel free to give us a call: (616) 710-1809.
